Fewer Jobs Available
Job openings fell by over one half-million to 6.8 million in November 2019, according to the latest JOLT survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Construction and Retail Hit Hardest
The largest decreases in job openings were in retail and construction. Yet, November was still the 21st straight month that the number of job openings was higher than the number of unemployed job seekers, which is 5.8 million.
Employment Still at Record Levels, Best in 50 Years
The employment report from December showed that U.S. employers added 145,000 jobs last month and the unemployment rate held at 3.5 percent.
